ELVENKING Announce New Singer, Prepare To Record CD
November 28, 2002Italian "pagan metal" act ELVENKING have announced the addition of singer Kleid and violinist/keyboardist Elyghen to the group's ranks.
Kleid replaces Damnagoras, who left the band in August due to health reasons, while Elyghen had previously worked with the group in a session musician capacity and has now been upgraded to a full-fledged member status.
Commented the band: "[Kleid] already recorded the preproduction demos of the new album, and the results are amazing! More than this, the sound is enriched by Elyghen's violin and keyboards, which will define brand new folk atmospheres."
ELVENKING have completed the songwriting process for the upcoming CD and will tentatively enter the studio in January to record the effort for a late spring release.
Among the cuts set to appear on the as-yet-untitled follow-up to "Heathenreel" are the following:
01. Pathfinders
02. Jigsaw Puzzle
03. The Prepetual Knot
04. Midnight Circus
05. The Moonchariot
"The new album shows the evolution of all the characteristics of our sound," the band wrote on their web site. "The new material, which is a bit straighter than [that on] 'Heathenreel', will have all the great melodies, the folk touch and the aggressiveness as trademarks of the elves, but the whole will be developed in more mature way, with a lot of different feelings and emotions. After so much time spent in songwriting, we're completely satisfied of the songs as they are.
"Ex-SKYCLAD frontman and actual singer of RETURN TO THE SABBATMartin Walkyier wrote the lyrics for one song, and the collaboration in the album sure will not stop here, you'll see (or better, you'll hear...)! As in 'Heathenreel', Mr. Travis Smith will take care of the artwork. He will try to give it a very strong runic atmosphere, let's wait and see."
